Who hasn't at one time or another dreamed of living in an authentic restored barn cleverly modified into a spacious home? Well, now's your chance to get in on a ground-breaking opportunity unique to the area. Our clients have designed a fantastic project located along the Delaware River Valley which we are extremely excited about. Planned on a property of 76 acres is a collection of custom-crafted homes created from barns that are more than a century old and embellished with other reclaimed materials. The developers of this land are committed to land preservation and the value of historical structures. Each structure will be customized to individual specifications and will be sited on 2 acres, the eco-friendly philosophy is geared to the thinking that less is more. Therefore, the remaining 50 acres will be enrolled in a forestry preserved program, maintained and enjoyed as common land by the homeowners. This idyllic property features a crystal clear mountain stream, a two-acre spring fed pond and a lush backdrop of forests and mountains. Sited on a southern-facing slope to take advantage of alternative energy opportunities, the barn homes will receive abundant natural sunlight. Utilizing the principles of Feng Sui, the barns will be positioned strategically to take advantage of the life force of the environment which has characteristics of both strength and stability. What could better portray this than these magnificent ancient structures which seem to be rooted to the earth on which they stand.
The idea of this particular kind of land preservation is unique in the area. Instead of developing every square foot of this property into uniform parcels the majority of space is preserved not only for the enjoyment of the homeowners but allows for less disruption to wildlife. The idea here is to have an abundance of land and not exploit it all the while maintaining it's magical qualities.
All the barn homes will have modern amenities without compromising their original character. The current project is a 100 year old barn dismantled from Livermore Falls, Maine. It is close to 5000 square feet and is 3 stories high. The materials have been reassembled by local craftsmen and consists of wide-plank radiant flooring, galvanized tin roofing, massive exposed beams, track lighting, a chef's kitchen with stainless appliances, polished counter-tops, custom crafted cabinetry, an immense living area which will center around a grand floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace antique and an outstanding Rumsford woodstove, at one end is a reclaimed 7 ft. cabinet which can be used as a bar/entertainment center, the walls are also reclaimed barn wood. Old windows have been used throughout as great interior features, there are custom welded steel hand and balcony railings. The exterior thermopane windows have been strategically placed to allow optimum light sources yet create a visual montage by the way they have been randomly placed throughout the building. The 2nd floor is designed so that in addition to the master bedroom suite there is a guest bedroom suite and a large area that can be utilized as an office or a studio or sectioned off into 2 additional bedrooms making it a 5 bedroom house. Of course, there are bathrooms a plenty, quite a few with claw-foot tubs. At this stage the homeowner would be able to participate in a unique hands-on experience and pick and choose from a multitude of choices and directions designed for any individual lifestyle. If this sounds like something you would be proud of owning, call Turner Real Estate 845-557-3800. We will personally give you a tour of this project and the beautiful surrounding property. We can also discuss alternate options since we have other barns dismantled just waiting for an owner to claim them! |
